The Woodbury Fire Department recently shared a heartwarming rescue that occurred on Maple Road in Highland Mills this week. According to the Department, at about 10 a.m. on Monday, they received a call about a cat stuck up a tree, but the location reportedly conflicted with what the caller provided. After not locating the particular tree in question, the firefighters had to leave the scene and go about their day.

Later, at about 4:45 p.m., the Department was returning from two other fire calls when someone called again about the stuck cat. This time, they provided more accurate information and the firefighters were able to better locate the weary animal in the area of 39 Maple Road. According to the Department, the cat was roughly 10 feet up the tree, and had most likely been up there for several hours before it was finally located.

Woodbury firefighter Connor Sheehan was able to safely extricate the cat from the tree. But its owner has not yet been identified. So in the meantime, it is being cared for at the Woodbury Animal Shelter. The cat is a calico, meaning it has a mix of black and orange fur on most of its body, with white fur along its legs and/or belly.
